Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, for Barbara “Barb” Jane Jelinek who died on Monday evening at Talahi Care Center in St. Cloud. Friends and relatives may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, 1900 Veterans Drive, St. Cloud and also after 8:30 a.m. at the church in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home in St. Cloud. Rev. Gregory Lieser will officiate and burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Barb was born to the late Drew and Miranda (Denbrook) Heath in Little Falls and grew up in Willmar, Minnesota. She met Jack Jelinek at Fish Trap Lake near Lincoln, Minnesota in 1942, when she was 16 and he was 15. Barb married Jack on June 14, 1947 in Willmar. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Barb was a Cub Scout and Camp Fire Girl leader. Barb and Jack took care of 12 foster babies for Catholic Charities, a cause dear to their hearts.
Barb is survived by her husband, Jack of St. Cloud; children, Barbara K. Heath of Monterey, CA, Craig S. (Mary) Jelinek of Incline Village, NV, David J. (Li-Ling) Jelinek of Sacramento, CA; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and siblings, Beverly Wolfe of Fridley, MN, Richard, Heath of St. Cloud, Helen Jorgenson of Rockton, IL, Donald Heath of New London, MN and John S. Heath of Willmar.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Talahi Care Center, Don Salzer’s Adult Foster Care Home, St. Cloud Hospital, Heartland Hospice, Barb’s doctors and nurses and her family, friends and neighbors for their loving care and support.
